Your Asian Skin Solution!

Advertorial

The largest and most visible organ on our body is our skin, which is why we need to take superb care of it!!

That's why I was happy when Asian Skin Solutions asked me if I would like to try out their O2 Peel Rejuvenation Facial Treatment!!

(Never too early to start to look good for my wedding teeheehee)

Ok this photo looks more artistic:

Asian Skin Solutions is specially tailored to Asian females, and that's why before my facial treatment, all sorts of questions were asked so that they can better known my skin and give the best sort of treatment to me!

Questions such as the my lifestyle, environmental conditions etc. :D

After my analysis and consultation, I was led into their rooms... Located conveniently at Orchard Central (that's the mall next to 313), they have a spacious corrider at the back where all the treatment rooms are!

The comfy bed I fell asleep on later. -_-

And here I am before the treatment!!
I have no foundation on so you can see all my skin's flaws.

Ok lah here's a clearer view of my face!! I got shitloads of tiny zits on my forehead!

The first step is Double Cleansing!

It's shiok!!!

Anyway there are 8 steps in total.

Second step is the O2 Peel, then the X-lotion Steam!

Here's the bubbling water in the machine for the X-lotion Steam.

At this point I already felt that my skin was super refreshed and light!

Step 4 is Extraction, which is the most unpleasant part of any facials...

Using tools (like metal tools), the therapist will extract clogged white heads/black heads etc from your skin, and squeeze zits! Oh my poor forehead.

Luckily, this process wasn't that painful because the steam already softened my skin and loosened the pores.

It's necessary though coz in the long term clogged pores do bad things to your skin!

Next my therapist did step 5: O2 Spray!

It was very fun coz a jet of pure oxygen was sprayed on my skin!! Very cooling and nice after the extraction. The stream of oxygen was very intense and I imagined all my dead skin cells flying off. LOL!!

Step 6 was a Facial Massage and I could feel myself nodding off... It was so shiok.

And then for Step 7: Double Mask!!!

The therapist spread a super thick and cool paste on my face and zzzzz I have no idea what happened after that coz I fell asleep. Hahaha!

And done!! HAHAHA! My face!

Now for the last step which is my favourite: SHOULDER MASSAGE!!!

Enjoy maximum!!

And this is my AFTER!!

Skin is definitely more glowy and brightened. Totally feels silky smooth, baby-soft and QQ!! It is super hydrated and luminous. :D

After being a satisfied client, I still had presents!! Mad shiok!!

Asian Skin Solutions showed me some of their products, the DK1 line, which is only available with them and nowhere else.

I was given the Dual Revitalize Cleanser (tallest bottle at $98)...

What can I say? Awesome cleanser! Smells very, erm, I guess the only word to describe it is LUXURIOUS!!

After I use it I feel I should use an expensive body wash too. Hahaha!!

The texture is very viscous and smooth. Can be used as a make up remover too!

DK1 Skin Energizing Booster and H20 Lift

The booster is a great serum that will provide immediate lifting effect and help lock in moisture!

The H20 Lift is an excellent moisturizer with the ability to hold 50 times of water to its mass!! What the! Why so amazing one?

Vita Mineral Block 60! ($128)

Sunblock with SPF 60!! It simulates "collagen synthesis", which I have no idea is what but it sounds good.

The texture is very light - water based and not sticky!! If you are looking for the perfect sunblock, can give this a try!

Sorry it took so long!

Tich, my lovely friend here, is only wearing little seamless booty shorts, little wristy cuffs I made, nipple stickers and black tabby boots.

And she was so resilient to cold, though I know she was freezing between the cold wet paint and the blowing at her with the airbrush. She meandered from class to class ad we showed her off, nob bathrobe for her!

The make up took the full 4 hours and I gladly would have spend another hour if I were allowed. It it was I came away 80% content with what I had done.
I really would have make the legging colouring a little more even and god knows what else.

Honestly though, there is nothing like photographing the make-up, it is very exciting experience to see the work complete, well lit and ready for pictures!

Friday Sales

Coastal Scents is having 20% off their camo quads! They're only $7.95 a pop so you'd be getting them for $6.35! I really want some but I hate paying for shipping and I don't wanna spend $75 to get free shipping! lol

Stila also started having Friday sales! Their blush is normally $18.50 a pan but they've cut it to $13.50 for a few hours today!

Formspring 2

You mentioned you didn't like F21 (at least, not working there), but what made you decide to apply & stay there? I could be wrong, but you used to be seasonal?

I worked at F21 back home when I was in HS and I really liked it so I thought I'd try it again as a part time job. I was originally hired as seasonal a while back but they kept me permanent. I ended up leaving for a couple months but ended up going back because I needed $$$! (you know how it is ;]) I stayed there because I liked the people [managers, co-workers], I LOVE shopping, and I just need some extra cash to keep my bills paid. I dislike working there because it's so repetitive! There's no challenge really and you get sick of demanding customers who complain about everything! lol

I've noticed a lot of people, including you, use NW and NC concealers together. Can you explain why?

I use NC42/44 concealer to cover blemishes like small pimples on my face because it makes my skin tone but I use the NW35 concealer to hide dark circles under my eyes. The peach/pink undertones in NW concealer make it perfect for counteracting dark purple circles. Then I put NC42 over that to reflect light so my undereyes look brighter!

Forever 21 Haul

Most of you know I work at F21 so I see when everything goes on sale, when new stuff comes out, etc. It's kind of fun working retail just for those simple facts but let me tell you customer service can be a drag sometimes! F21 is a great place to shop if you're on a budget, but be warned you get what you pay for! The clothes are cheap and that's means it's NOT gonna last you a long time unless you take super good care of it but they're so cheap who has time/money to do that?! Anyway a bunch of stuff went on sale a couple weeks ago so here's my haul from there!

First up - sale items!

3/4 sleeve leopard print coat $12.99
I like it cause it's lightweight! Here's a pic of me wearing it

[sorry about my messy closet! LOL]

military inspired cardigan $8.99
I loooved this shirt but you know how I said it's cheap?! I wore it once, washed it and one of the buttons came off! I need to sew it back on but I'm too lazy. I'm wearing it in my profile pictures but you can't really see it.

gold flats $8.99
I really wanted the silver ones but they were sold out. You can still order this online here.

ACTIVEWEAR

F21 has a new active wear line which I love! I used to love going into Bebe Sport [now called PH8 or something] because the material felt soo nice but it's way out of my price range. Thank goodness F21 came up with a dupe thats a fraction of the price! I wanted the cropped yoga pants but they were sold out =[ All I bought were these

stretch tank $5.80
I like it because it's a nylon/spandex blend and when you sweat it won't look/feel all gross! See it here

booty shorts $3.80
ok I wouldn't really work out in these because I have major thunder thighs [LOL] but I like to wear these when I go out and my skirt is super short [don't want them creepers getting a peep of your goodies!] plus these were only $3.80!

sports bra $6.80
I think it was 6.80? I can't remember but again I bought it because of the material! I really should buy sports bras from walmart but I really liked the way it felt!

OTHER

denim shorts $15.80
It's still pretty cold here [for me anyway!] so I haven't been able to wear these yet but I can't wait til Spring/Summer comes! It's so hard to find shorts that fit right [for me] so I had to get these!

anchor necklace $5.80
I thought this was cute! lol The whole 'anchor/sailor girl' thing seems to be in right now and I got sucked in.

And that's it for my haul! IDK if you guys like this post but let me know if you do and I'll definitely do more in the future! =] AND if you know anywhere that's having good sales let me know too! lol

NOTW: MAC Coconut Ice

So, I thought I'd start something new on my blog! I've been getting into nail polish the last couple of months but I don't have the patience to do designs or anything - I leave that up to my sister. LOL But lately I've had the bad habit of biting my nails and ugh I hate the way biting nails looks! So to prevent myself from biting I'm constantly changing my nail polish. (Cause who wants to taste nail polish in their mouth? yuck!) Which explains my new NOTW (Nail of the Week) posts! This week I'm wearing MAC's Coconut Ice which came out with the Lillyland Collection. I don't know why I do this to myself because I hate MAC's nail polish! I don't know if it's just their cream finish or what but I'm always suckered into their colors. I have to put on 3+ coats of the nail polish just for it to come out opaque and if you're a complete amateur when it comes to nail polish (like myself) you find yourself messing up and having streaky nail polish! I've found the trick is to do one layer at a time but let it dry in between for a minute or two then the color comes out more opaque. I keep reminding myself from now on not to buy MAC's nail polish - I'm sure China Glaze or OPI have dupes for them anyway. But I guess using 3 coats doesn't really matter because who really finishes a bottle of nail polish on their own anyway?! My camera kind of washed out the color because it's a little more orangey than the picture shows.

What nail color are you wearing this week?

Power Up with ArtOfficial Intelligence

"Just as imagination is the key to art, ArtOfficial Intelligence is the key to filling the void in the mundane, infusing creativity in the unexciting, and representing people in a fashion unseen before. We believe that image is everything, so our brand embodies just that. Our mission is to provide you with energy for your innovation and the power for your imagination." ~ AOI Mission Statement
A few weeks back I h
ad the pleasure to atten
d the launch party for an up-and-coming clothing line called ArtOfficial Intelligence in
Washington, DC
. Afterward, the founders were cool enough to give me an exclu
sive interview regarding the debut if
their company. Here's what they had to say...

NL: What is the mission of your company?

The Mission is to “Power Your Imagination….”

Through our threads we hope to inspire others to look at their lives f

orm an alternate angle. Our designs are tailored to inspire people to be creative, use their imagination, and to strive to be original not because it makes them better than others

, but because it makes them better FOR others and themselves. Like Andre 3000 so eloquently stated…”we just trying to put a little paint where it ain’t”.

NL: How did you come up with the designs for the female apparel given that you are 4 guys?!

The design ideas usually start with a brainstorming session…from there we write down all of the ideas and then go through and pick a handful that we really like…after that the design team does as many mockups between the brainstorming and our next scheduled meeting. The real magic comes from our design surveys though. For the Greek inspired clothing, we solicit responses from members of the organizations that the shirts were inspired by. For the actual line, we solicit a number of women from what we believe to be our target demographic to complete our design surveys.

NL: How did the four of you meet and when was the concept of AOI born?

Well, all of us went to North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. But I‘ll give you my perspective on how we started. In 2008 I (Derrick Beasley) organized

a few of my Frat Brothers one of them being Boone (Donald Boone) to make a shirt to cele

brate our school’s homecoming and our chapter of our Fraternity (Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.)…The shirt read “BE. Is Classic”. There were only about 6 of us that actually bought and wore the shirt, but that Saturday morning of homecoming, everyone wanted to know where they could get one and why they were not told. From there I knew it would at least be something that I would do the next year. Meanwhile Boone and Matt (Matthew Green) had had previous conversations about somehow making paraphernalia for Black Greek Lettered Organizations cool and more fashionable. Therein lies the foundation for the original discussions about forming a official company.

Boone brought into the fold his brother Dor (Dorian Boone) who contributes a wealth of calm and maturity as well as creativity to our group. Late spring 2009 I received a phone call from Boone about the prospect of starting a company. In short I was like “hell yeah!” After several conference calls between the four of us spanning the length of the summer we officially organized in the form of an LLC in September.

This is the short version. There is a much better worded version on our site/blog…shameless plug.

NL: Who is your target demographic?

In short…young, progressive, open minded, professionals. We design for people who aren’t defined by their fashion, but whose fashion is an extension of their lifestyle and beliefs.

NL: Does AOI offer any services in addition to the apparel?

Services?…well, more like opportunities. Through our Power Your Imagination Initiative, we are planning to engage individuals, nonprofits, corporations, etc who approach their focus in a creative way that positively impact lives.

With that being said, we are looking for individuals, organizations, etc who are looking to have the creativity of their brand POWERED by us. There are a few ways that we can do this…through social media outlets, collaborative events in which we can bring our demographic to that of the collaborator and of course OUR CLOTHES! Again this is the abbreviated version. If you look to the “Power Your Imagination” post on our blog there is a detailed explanation of how we plan to provide opportunities.

Right now, we are looking for inspired individuals to help us inspire others…please contact us, we love to build with motivated individuals!

NL: Now that AOI has done its official launch, what can we expect to see from you all in 2010?

2010 is going to be the year of face time for AOI. We plan to do a number of events where we set up shop and interact face to face with our target. More specifically, look to see at least 3-4 major events from AOI with a range from collaborations with nonprofit orgs to Cookouts…Its going to be a good year for us, I can feel it…

NL: Where can we find AOI apparel?

Of course you can find it at www.ArtOfficialShop.com.

Thanks to the fellas of ArtOfficial Intelligence. I love seeing such positivity, creativity, and a heart for community coming from young people such as these men. Be sure to check them out over on their blog and on their very own channel on You Tube channel.
