Playing around - Ben Nye Palette

Hey loves,

I was messing with my Ben Nye Lumiere Palette  2 nights ago and this is what I came up with.

It's a very simple look and guess what? I didn't use a primer or base. Partially because I had no plans to go anywhere. But I point this out to show you just how pigmented the colors in this palette are!

If you wanted to use a base they have a color wheel that can be partnered with the look. Here's my blog post review/swatch of the wheel.
Ben Nye Color Wheel

If you are in the Bay Area, CA and interested in knowing where you get Ben Nye Cosmetics read here Where Can I purchase Ben Nye Cosmetics?

To see more pictures, expand this post by clicking on its title.

I'll go ahead and apologize for the red eyes now. What can I say, I have DRY EYES. Boo.

I used my 32 (I think) lip color palette I got off Ebay ($8.00). I used one of the pink colors with shimmer in it. I don't remember the seller, so you'd have to do your own independent research and judgement in purchasing this if you choose the Ebay route. I know that a company called Coastal Scents sells this as well, however, I stay away from their website, I think they are overpriced and their shipping fees are ridiculous.

I mention them because they are widely known in the Youtube world and I have purchased from them before.

Anyhow, I hope you like the look. If you think it warrants a YouTube tutorial, holler at your girl!

New Video Posted!

Ben Nye Color Wheel

Swatches of my Ben Nye color wheel. I love the colors!

The colors in this wheel compliment Ben Nye's Lumiere Eyeshadow Palette and can be used as a base for your eyeshadow looks. Might I add, like every other base that I have tried, I need to use a primer underneath these bases due to my oily lids. Aside from that, they are pretty spectacular.

Swatches on my finger tips
I don't have six fingers on one hand..so here's the center color of the palette.
The colors by themselves
The colors with the Lumiere Colors over them!

Check out my previous post on my Ben Nye haul for prices and places you can purchase them from. More pictures and review of the actual palette to come!

Where can I purchase Ben Nye products?

HOO-to-the-RAY you made it to my blog and for that *hugs*!

After weeks of research and tested patience, I have decided to jump on the Ben Nye train *choo choo*.  While I wanted to do one blog on Ben Nye swatches as well as where to get Ben Nye products, I am realizing that my post would be too long so I'm breaking up my posts.

My order is expected to arrive Friday August 13,2010 *spooky* so trust that I will be posting a swatch and initial observation review by Sunday.

This blog is going to address the following topics/questions:
Where can I learn more about Ben Nye products?
Where can I purchase Ben Nye products?

Where can I learn more about Ben Nye products?
I recommend visiting their website Bennye.com.
To obtain a copy of their catalogue I called 310-839-1984 *note: it took me a few tries to get through to order it* You can also view their catalogue here.

If you happen to live in the LA area you are in so much luck! When you order a free copy of their catalogue, you get a list of stores that sell Ben Nye products in the LA Area.

Where can I purchase Ben Nye products?

Bubba Sikes - Seems to be one of the cheaper and more popular Ben Nye online sellers. If you shop here, look at their discount page for their Lumiere palettes ($54.o0).
Fun Shop   - I ordered my products from here. They are not as cheap as Bubba Sikes, however, they seem to have a larger selection and I wanted to make one purchase.
Philadelphia Theatrical SupplyOut of all the websites I have viewed, this is by far the cheapest, however,  no one has referred to shopping there online except for a blog where Becky talks about ordering from them.  I also couldn't really find reviews on their website so I am still a tad apprehensive in ordering from them. If they had Paypal, I would definitely order as my money would be protected.
Stage and Theater Makeup - Some people referenced this website but for some reason..it doesn't catch my eye
Theatrical Makeup - Some people referenced this website but for some reason..it doesn't catch my eye either.
Amazon - Amazon came up a lot when I was searching for Ben Nye products.

If you are looking for stores in your area that sell Ben Nye start with basic searches on Google.
Google: Theatrical makeup / Stage makeup / Costume Stores

If you live in the Bay Area, here are some locations I who have confirmed they sell Ben Nye products. Please note that of these three websites, Retro Fit and Costumes on Haight do not consistently sell Ben Nye so call to check with them before hand. Encore (located in Pleasanton and Walnut Creek) has a pretty good selection of individual Ben Nye eye shadows (no palettes at this time). All three stores state that their individual eye shadows cost around 9-10 bucks. Side commentary: It drives me bonkers that they didn't seem to have set prices on their eye shadows..so one day $9 and another $10?

Retro Fit Vintage
910 Valencia Street
San Francisco, CA 94110(415) 550-1530
Costumes On Haight
735 Haight St
San Francisco, CA 94117(415) 621-1356
Encore
845 Ygnacio Valley Rd.
Walnut Creek, CA 94598(925) 932-1001
(They have a lot of the individual eyeshadows) . The shadows on their website costs $8.00 (as opposed to $9-10 in stores)

Also, check out Encore's coupon website. Right now you can get 5 bucks off a purchase of $40 bucks or more until August 31, 2010.

I hope this bit of information helps those of you who are researching where to purchase Ben Nye products!!Please do not hesitate to comment!
