Camqueen of the Year Crowned

Advertorial

Don't know if you guys saw this advert I did for the CamQueen of the Year contest?

Now the contest is finally over and can I say WOW???????

It was definitely a smash hit among Singaporean youth!! The contest generated 4.5 MILLION page views and 400,000 votes cast via facebook!!

Of course, it was a very interesting contest where contestants were urged to send in a photo of themselves before and after a makeover, so everyone was trying to prove that they can doll themselves up the best. And I must say among the contestants were many brave souls who put up their photos at... erm, well not their best. All for the prize of $5,000!

After a super fierce competition, the final winner was crowned *drumroll*:

And she is Tammy Tay!!

In case you are wondering why there's only one photo and the "after" is mysteriously replaced by bottles of Vitamin Orange/Lemon, it is not coz after her makeover Tammy looks like that. It's coz it's a...

TWIST!!!

Surprise! The contest was not judged by how drastically different your makeover made you look, but by your "before" photo. Yes, proving people can look beautiful even in their bare skin.

Like me with no makeup muahaha OK lah fine I did use some photoshopping.

Of course, health is the foundation of all beauty, and you can't be beautiful without being healthy!

Which is why Tammy was chosen, coz her glow and bright eyes say good health :)

Yes I love my make up and all my fake things ie false eyelashes and implants etc, but I also believe that having great skin (and teeth and hair actually) is the most basic rule to looking beautiful.

If you want glowy bright skin - Vitamin C is super vital.

Which can be sought from You c1000 vitamin C drinks!

The powerful little bottles contain a whooping 1000mg of vitamin C each, which your body desperately needs to produce collagen, fight signs of aging, stronger bones and teeth etc. Hiyah the health benefits of Vitamin C is super a lot lah can't be bothered to list them all out. It's awesome that's all!

The worst thing is our body does not retain or produce Vitamin C, which means you need to ingest appropriate amounts of it everyday!

And the easiest (and yummiest) way to to drink loads of You c1000. :D

When I was sick recently I drank like seriously 7 bottles in a day. Helped me recover fast! It's your best friend when you are beginning to fall sick I tell you.

Remember to get your Vitamin C for today!

Wow I'm addicted to the game on the website -_- ... Oh and also, You c1000 will be launching a new APPLE flavour soon!!

I'm excited to try!

CamQueen of the Year

Advertorial

Hello!!!

I love camwhoring! Why not? Only young once so much take more, more, more photos! And if those photos are chio it's a great way to get attention online! After our online personality is more and more important nowadays so it's smart to put your best face forward :D

Obviously make up is a super important element in snapping super chio photos so today I'm gonna show ya all how I put on make up!

If you think it's excessive or whatever please, click this page away. You may not appreciate it but other people might, so why spoil the fun for others? It's like going to some vegetarian recipe webpage and posting "EWWW WHY NO MEAT ONE IT'S SO GROSS MOCK MEAT IS JUST FLOUR YOU ARE AN IDIOT OF A CHEF PLEASE POST A REAL RECIPE NEXT TIME."

Like what's your point? You wanna see meat recipes? Go to a relevant webpage. You wanna see simple, natural make up? THIS IS NOT THE URL FOR IT.

Back to the topic: I think the last time I did a make up post was back in 2005... Super long ago.

So this is my "no make-up" picture.

Fresh after a bath. As explained in the photo, I couldn't remove my lash extensions... And obviously it's photoshopped... But hey, I left my moles on!

Step 1: PUT IN CONTACTS! Uber important, do not neglect this step!

Step 2 is to apply 2-way cake foundation! I've been using ZA's foundation all my life. Another great brand is Revlon's colorstay liquid foundation with SoftFlex technology... Because of its LONGEVITY! It really really won't come off for the whole day! However, the colours are not that nice so I apply ZA on top of it.

Notice I put foundation on my lips. This is to conceal any inconsistency in lip colour before I apply lipstick. Important also!!

After drawing brows and putting on Bronzer!!

My brow pencil is dunno what brand from Japan and my bronzer is from Victoria's secret.

I'm in love with bronzer recently! It really gives you a healthy glow!

And I used my eyebrow pencil to shade my nose bridge also!

Sorry there are no photos of me actually doing the make up coz it's very hard to snap yourself doing make up... You ownself imagine lah hor.

This is after eye make up...

White highlighter eyeshadow all over, brown eyeshadow to enhance the double eyelids, and a thin line of liquid brown eyeliner (mine is $4.90 from Aries) to line the eyes.

At this point you make apply falsies if you don't have extensions like me.

Also, stuck on lower lashes, and put some MAC glitter on the inner eye corners! :D

And here's what I meant by brown eyeshadow to exhance the double eyelids.

After blusher, lipstick + gloss and a hair bow! Tadah!!

For blusher any pink toned blusher will do. Lipstick: Mac's "Honeylove" as a base, Chanel hot pink gloss on top.

More camwhoring shots!

LOL...

Wondering why I'm posting all these make up tips? Coz I'm very NICE ok! I'm trying to help you WIN AN AWESOME CONTEST!!!

Very simple one!! Participants just need to create a profile and upload two photos of themselves... One BEFORE photo and one AFTER photo!!

Before and after what? Make up, of course!

Just to illustrate, here's a video of one of the contestants...

Erm... She is quite... unique. But don't worry you don't need to take video, photo can already!

And the prizes... Oh so generous!

CamQueen of the Year will win $5,000!!!!

This will be chosen by a panel of judges.

There will another prize of $1,000 for the People's Choice Award... For the babe who manages to get the most people to "like" their picture!!

But of course, somebody generous must be sponsoring the prizes right!!? And that someone is YOU.C1000!!

I'm sure you have seen You.c1000 drinks in our local supermarket/convenience stores before. I love it! Even though it's in a smallish bottle, it is SUPER GAO (I have no idea how to translate this I suppose the closest is 'thick) and very very fizzy and the strong lemony flavour immediately perks you up!

And not only is it yummy, most importantly of all it's chockful of Vitamin C!! 1000mg in the bottle!

I suppose that's why it's called "C" 1000... Just in case you don't know how much vitamin C that is, our recommended intake of Vitamin C per day is 250mg to 4,000mg! Your body doesn't manufacture or store excess Vitamin C, so obviously it's better to get more Vitamin C goodness daily! And I've been reading reviews and loads of people said they felt better after drinking this when they are ill. :)

Plus Vitamin C is totally anti-aging!! Super important for me!!

Also comes in orange flavour and bigger bottles of isotonic drinks!

So back to the topic:

JOIN NOW!!

Good luck!!

p/s: There are already 350 participants before I even posted this blog entry... Wah it's getting so much traction!! Even got well-known bloggers taking part! Some of the before and after shots have really drastic differences so you can just go look-see even if you don't wanna take part. Very interesting!

Rice is the New Potato

Advertorial

I'm a night owl, so I normally wake up between 3-5pm. Then I'd wait for Mike to come home, and we'd go eat his dinner and my lunch (I skip breakfast).

Then every night, at about say 2am, I'd start to feel hungry again.

But more often than not, THERE IS NO FOOD AT HOME!! Well either no food or I'm too lazy to cook whatever is in the fridge.

And I'd start to do crazy things when I'm delirious with hunger.

For example...

Open and close the fridge door despite being disappointed 1,670 times.
The only thing that grew in the fridge is probably mold.

I'm sure many of you do this!!!

Then I'd try to convince myself that I'm not feeling hungry at all. And that the pangs and salivating just means I'm like cold or something.

Then, subconsciously, I'd start biting my nails.

I think that's coz my body thinks that eating bits of dead skin is better than eating nothing at all.

Unbeknownst to my body I'm actually eating bits of French gel, so that shouldn't be good at all.

Still I'd be hungry, so I'd try extreme methods to curb my hunger:

No, it doesn't work. Still hungry! Roar!!

Method 2: Distract myself by doing small-talk with myself

Ok that doesn't work either.

Method 3: Distract myself by pretending I'm a movie star

And belting out relevant soundtracks. AND ALL THAT JAZZ!!

I bet Catherine Zeta Jones never feels hungry!!

After a while more I'd start contemplating eating everything.

For example, would this stuffed rabbit taste nice sauteed lightly with butter and asparagus? Would about this boot? Maybe it would be ok-tasting if I boil it with some chicken stock.

After a while I'd realise that these household objects will not be yummy.

Then I would....

BITE MIKE!!!!!!!!!!

FHL hahahha!! But yummy as he is, he doesn't satisfy hungry coz my teeth are not sharp enough to eat him. How do cannibals do it??

But not to fret... Now I have a new and mega easy HUNGER SOLUTION!!!

Presenting...

Brand new Rice Crisps by Mister Potato!!

Made with a secret combination of potatoes and rice for a light crispy snack that will satisfy any hunger cravings!

YUMMEH!!

Being Asian, I obviously LOVE rice. And now I can haz rice with my potato chips, making it even healthier!

I was totally surprised when I bit into the chip... It tastes almost exactly like normal potato chips but just that little something is different. Like the aftertaste is sweeter or stronger or something. My favourite is the Sour Cream and Onion!!

Actually I got given 4 canisters of these chips but within 2 days 2 cans are finished already by my friends who came over for mahjong -_- They said it's really nice.

But it's ok to munch on these chips, coz the Rice Crisps have/are:

No Added MSG

No artificial colouring

Cholestrol and trans fat free

20% less fat than conventional fried potato chips yet taste just as delicious

First of its kind in Singapore

And an awesome alternative to other snacks!

Comes in four flavours too!!

And even can eat it on the go since it comes with these handy aluminium canisters. :D

Ways to get back your long, lustrous hair!

Advertorial

Hello!! I am here to give you tips on
how to make your hair chioer!!!!

The questions I get asked the most in real life are ALWAYS related to my hair. Is it real? How do you bleach it? How come it's so long and still quite healthy?

I'm totally happy with my hair now because DESPITE being bleached every single month, it is HEALTHIER than it was when I had brown hair!! It's totally shiny and I'm in love with it!! Of course, it's not perfect - but I've never met another bleached blonde who has longer and shinier hair than me! If you wanna know why my hair is so well-nourished...

It's all about caring for the last 15cm!

Q: Why is caring for the last 15cm so important?

A: Coz there is no need to trim your hair anymore!

Let's face it... Most of us girls want super healthy luscious long locks because it compliments the female form the best!

Long swishy hair is super sexy!

However... Most of us resort to regular trimming to get healthy hair ends. The end result? We can't get the long hair we want and it keeps remaining at an annoying shoulder length.

So if you have taken good care of your hair ends, your hair will not need to be trimmed anymore, and you can get the hair length you've always desired!

Qns: Why does the last 15cm need more care then?

Ans no. 1: Your hair ends are senior citizens!

Hair grows at 1.25cm per month, which means it takes 1 year to grow a full 15cm!!

So imagine if you have shoulder-length hair, your hair ends should be about 2 years older than your roots.

Since I have waist length hair I think my ends are about 4-5 years old!!

Maybe I should bake my hair ends a cake.

Ans no. 2: The last 15 cm is pretty much burnt from tonging!

Flat irons or curling tongs usually go up to about 175 degrees.

This is the same temperature used by our clothes dryer to wring out moisture from wet laundry!! Super hot lah!!

So of course this will lead to hair damage!

Compared to hair at your crown, your hair ends have been through a lot!  They are the oldest and have been 'tormented' the most by various hair procedures such as dyeing, tonging or perming.

Hair fact of life: Hair "processing" takes up 60% of a year!

Females in general spend an average of about 2 hours a week just washing, blow drying and styling their hair. Erm, I think this seems inaccurate coz I think I spend a lot more than 2 hours a week wtf.

Anyway, if that statistic is right for you, it means by the time we reach 65, we'd have spent more than 7 months of our lives on HAIR!!!

Giving equal care and attention to your roots and ends simply won't work because your hair ends need so much more attention!! If you wish to maintain or grow out your hair, special care is needed for those fragile ends.

There is a hair care range made
specially for the last 15 cm! ;)

And it's ESSENTIAL DAMAGE CARE!!

If it's able to repair the most damaged 15 cm, it is definitely good enough for the rest of your hair ;)

Shampoo and conditioning everyday is not enough! For advance care treatment options, be sure to put on the Hair Mask and Hair Essense!

To use the hair mask, be sure to apply an appropriate amount on hair ends after shampooing, and rinse off thoroughly! I try to use it at least twice a week :)

As for Hair Essense, I'm freaking in love with the Rich Premier Lotion coz it really really untangles my hair and makes it baby soft! The serum, of course, smoothens out frizz and adds glamourous shine :D

Real easy to use too, just apply on damp or dry hair and watch the products do their thing. Somemore they are totally affordable!

Let's get pretty hair!!!

Essential's range is easily available at supermarkets and drugstores in Singapore. And affordable too!!

You can visit their website for more information:

p/s: Since many of you asked, my contacts are from Spectable Hut's in-house brand. The colour is Amber something, I think. Well it's the one that looks orangey. But note that I used photoshop to enlarge the irises. The lens by themselves don't enlarge that much. Still nice and quite comfy though. I don't know the price. But if you buy 2 get 2 free I think.

p/p/s: No extensions, that's my real hair.

Flipping new eyes

Advertorial

So it has been about 1 month plus since I did my eye surgery. After 1 week of doing the surgery, I had to go back to remove my stitches!!

And I brought a companion with me... The Flip Mino HD camcorder!

Sleek in front, and SUPER TINY.

Customizable at the back!! Pretty or what!!

It can record 2 hours worth of videos and is super duper easy to operate. 1 click starts the recording, another click to stop.

You can watch the video you recorded on the 2 inch screen and delete it if you don't like it.

If you do, just press another button and the USB thingy pops up!! (Can also use it to hurt robbers ala switch knife I think) Insert that into your computer's USB port and drag and drop your spanking new videos!!

Talk about ease of video blogging!

Anyway the Flip camcorders are really popular in USA (I saw loads of ads when I was in Texas) but somehow video blogging doesn't seem to be the trend in Singapore. Maybe it's coz video cameras are so huge to lug around - but now you can record videos on HD with such a tiny device!

Sorry got carried away. As I was saying, I brought the Mino HD with me to JB to get my stitches removed!

And here's the resulting video:

There, for everyone who ever wanted to see me cry, haha...

The Flip Mino HD camcorder comes with pre-loaded Flipshare software, which makes emailing/uploading your videos a breeze, and even lets you edit individual clips as well as make custom movies and capture still image snapshots!

.................................................

Just to elaborate more about the removal. My friend A who removed her stitches a week before me, actually told me it would not hurt at all, so I went into the room all calm and dandy. I guess hers healed much better than mine.

My right eye, as you can see on the video, is in a much worse state than the left. The wound was still raw, the eyelid was bruised (quite badly), and worst of all, my eyeball had this 1.5cm long blood clot that is VERY VERY SCARY LOOKING.

I only managed to snap this one blurry shot of it but see the red patch on the inner eye white part? Well it goes all the way to the outer eye white part UNDER my iris.

Honestly although the photo looks horrific I wasn't really in pain, just that it looks really gross and took super long to recover.

So yeah I went into a room and it was NURSES who did the removal for me, not the doctor. The doctor didn't even fucking see me.

(Actually I have doubts that they are real nurses)

And the moment the nurse saw me, she said, "WAH WHY YOUR EYE SO RED?" Hello?? Why don't you ask your doctor that question?!

Prepare to cringe.

On my right eye, flesh somehow grew OVER the stitches. There were 2 in total on each side.

So they begin by prying my eye wide open (that already hurts plus I kept thinking it will split), and used a pair of tweezers (as shown in video) to sort of try to dig out the stitches.

I don't know if it's just the nurse's fucking ineptitude or whatever, but my wound was still raw and tender and she just kept fucking poking at me for fucking 10 mins.

I can't even begin to describe how painful this is. POKE POKE POKE POKE

And I didn't get numbing cream, no local anesthesia, nothing.

Initially since I couldn't see what she was doing (obviously), I thought she was doing something necessary and just tolerated it. Like u know, part of a process of getting it done.

After that I realised she kept doing the same thing (digging) and had no intentions of stopping because she kept FAILING to dig out my stitches!

FUCK HER LAH!

I begin to get so traumatized I started to whimper, then cry, then SOB.

I BEGGED them to stop because I couldn't take the pain anymore. I wanted to go back to gentle Dr Huang and his sophisticated equipment. I even told them just fucking leave the stitches inside and let me go, I don't care if I live with stitches forevermore.

After the "digging", this was what had to be done:

CAN YOU FUCKING IMAGINE THAT ON YOUR TENDER EYE CORNER!!

Never in my adult life have I ever cried over pain, seriously. I (think I) have a very high pain tolerance lor. Tattoos, ok. Wisdom teeth all 4 out at once... Never flinched. Brazilian waxing? Meh. Lip fillers? Child's play.

BUT THIS WAS HELL.

Even if you paid me $100,000, I will NOT go through this again, even if it means living with short, small eyes. Fuck this shit. I won't even wish this upon Plasticzilla.

I don't know how they managed to persuade me to finish up but they kept saying "Hen kuai de, yao hao le" (Almost done) and I let them.

The left eye's removal also hurt but it was not as painful as the right eye's. Tolerable, about 6/10.

And this - stitches removal for my right eye... is 9.8/10. I can only imagine how people who break their legs feel like but at least your leg only breaks once while this woman was digging in my eye non stop repeatedly for 20 whole minutes. -_-

When I stepped outside, still sobbing, one of the nurses said to me, "Oh poor thing cry until like this... You must be very scared of pain."

LIKE FUCK YOU OK!

Although she was nice and polite throughout my ordeal and I'm sure she didn't mean it in a condescending way, it was still fucking offensive because MY FUCKING PAIN was not coz of my intolerance in any way but because YOUR DOCTOR SUCKS!

I sliced open my nose, stuffed something inside and had chucks of my alars cut off (literally chunks that were thrown away)... AND THE PAIN IS NOWHERE CLOSE!

And Dr Huang is so nice and funny and gentle and he really cares about me and my nose boohoohoo *emo*

I know I asked for it by being so vain and also being totally reckless but yeah lah I totally am regretting this man!!

Eye job with shoddy china doctor: $1,600

Nose job with Dr Martin Huang: $12,000

Regret at being a cheapo: Priceless

And somemore, shittiest thing ever:

NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE FML MAXIMUM

Bottom is the before btw. I know the iris looks smaller but that's coz my fake eyelashes were more heavy in that photo.

My eyes look slightly bigger without make up but with make up is almost the same. I know I said it looks very different in my earlier blog post but I think it was only because it was so swollen??!! I don't know what happened lah maybe my eyes healed themselves -_-

So yeah I am NOT going to reveal the clinic's name because I know some of you still want to go there because you are a cheapo. There is no way I'd be held responsible if you somehow blind yourself there. And as for the argument that I should reveal the clinic's name to warn people not to go, well... Too fucking bad. Who ask you still go to JB clinic to do surgery after my horror story.

Ok lah enough gore shall end my blog post with a chio photo of the recovered eyes:

Yes everything is photoshopped INCLUDING eyes.

Thank you for capturing my emo face after the removal Flip Mino HD!! I am so not gonna do plastic surgery again***!!

(*** Coz Mike banned me from doing anything else)

Interested to get the Flip Mino HD? Retail price is $349...

BUT YOU CAN GET IT AT $319 with Mine!

Flip is also available at Challenger stores,
CK tang, Airports ParisSilk, Juzz 1 (esplanade).

Many designs customizable too! Yay!

p/s: I know there are a lot of adverts recently but well I went to Tokyo for 6 days and then my beloved pet died so understandably I have like zero inspiration to blog.

Nom nom for the skin

Advertorial

Great skin is always noticeable and even if the rest of your features are not that attractive... as long as you have beautiful skin you'd still look radiant and healthy!!

Which is why I'm always on the lookout for products to bring my skin quality from good to AWESOME!!

Some more I'm getting old -_-. Will try anything to prevent skin deterioration!

So I was real happy when I got sponsored some new Skinfood products!!

A little background - Skinfood is from Korea and they have been continually developing innovative ranges for skin, body, hair and make up products based entirely on FOOD ingredients!

When the BB cream trend exploded in Singapore, I remember Skinfood was one of the first to produce a highly raved about bb cream, the Mushroom bb cream!!

And now... Their newest range -

SKINFOOD OMIJA

From left:

Omija Whitening Tea Bag Toner (Sheets included)

Omija Whitening Emulsion

Omija Whitening Serum

Omija Whitening Mask sheet (2 masks)

(Cheek mask sheets come with teabag toner)

From left:

Omija Whitening Spot cream
Comes with the Inception totem!! LOL!
Will explain more about that later

Omija Whitening Cream

You'd notice that all the products contain the word "whitening" in them... That's coz that's what the Omija berry (plus Skinfood's patented Proprietary complexion brightening ingredients) does!!

The bright red berries are grown in Mungyeong (for Skinfood that is)... Its beneficial properties have been long utilized by the Koreans most commonly in the form of Omija tea.

Many girls in Singapore, I've noticed, are obsessed over fair skin!! I myself prefer to have a golden tan but I still use whitening products because I want BRIGHTER skin. Great skin always looks radiant, whether tan or fair!

The stellar product of the Skinfood Omija range is definitely the Teabag Toner!!

The super cute bottle comes attached with a teabag filled with Omija goodness!!

Here's how to use it:

First, after opening the metal lid you'd notice another unique cap on the toner bottle - it has a small tab on it, and can be screwed open to reveal a wider bottle opening!

Of course, remember to shake the bottle before opening the small tab ;)

Review: The toner smells really pleasant and is very refreshing! I've always loved toners because they give you cleaner skin and smaller pores and moisturizes... However, some toners, I feel, dries out skin but this one doesn't!

Plus it's totally fun to dip the teabag lol. I feel it's such a waste to throw away the teabag after that though... Maybe I should have used it to make Omija tea?

What I love about the toner most is that it comes with 10 Cheek mask sheets!! It's great for using the toner even more intensively :)

After using the toner, my skin feels baby soft, clean, and smells nice to boot!

The other product I really liked in the range - OMIJA WHITENING SPOT CREAM!

Why?

Yes because it comes with the Nano Silver Massage Bar! How innovative!

The Nano Silver Massage Bar contains nano silver particles with superb anti-bacterial properties! I don't know what nano silver particles but they sound good!

After using the massage bar, I'm a convert!! I'd never use my fingers to apply creams anymore!! It feels so good giving your face a massage and at the same time delivering the goodness of the cream deeper into your skin.

I'm also convinced it makes my face thinner! Massage away the fats! LOL Although I don't know if this is true lah...

The whitening spot cream itself is used to visibly lighten even the most stubborn spots to give you a flawless look!!

Pigmentation is horrible and I hate it!! It makes your skin look so dull! Now I have something to fight them with hehehe. I've also realised that the spot cream works as a great moisturizer too!
